The story behind STEEP & STILL

Meet Nora.

An ordinary kitchen. A curious cup.

Nora is 42 and owns a small collection of mismatched cups.

Her favourite is the one that fits comfortably in her hand, rather than the one she saves for visitors.

Where it began

A cupboard of half-finished teas.

  • SOMEChosen for their names.
  • SOMEChosen for their boxes.
  • A FEWSimply because she fancied trying something new.
The problem She kept making them in exactly the same way, then wondering why some were enjoyable and others stayed at the back of the shelf.

The teas were not the problem. The same method for every one of them was.

Nora’s curiosity is an ordinary kind

Small things, noticed properly.

  • 01She starts reading the packet.
  • 02She pays attention to the cup and keeps a few notes.
  • 03She tries a familiar tea beside a biscuit.
  • 04She moves a chair toward the window.

None of it needs to become a grand project.

That is the spirit of STEEP & STILL: enough guidance to make the next step clearer, with room for your own taste and your own day.

Why these guides exist

Tea can feel like a very large subject when all you want is a useful place to begin.

The collection breaks it into four approachable parts. Each guide takes care of one part, so you can begin with the question in front of you.

01Choose

Choose a tea with a little more understanding.

02Brew

Prepare it with a clearer method.

03Pair

Try it with something to eat.

04Pause

Find a moment to enjoy it.

The aim is to make everyday tea more inviting, one small discovery at a time.

“I wanted a tea guide that could sit beside an ordinary kettle. Something clear enough to use, and welcoming enough to come back to.” Nora Whitfield

A good cup. A little time.

You can start with one guide or explore all four. Bring your curiosity; the rest can begin with whatever is already in your kitchen.
